What is the ruling on giving money to international organizations whose aim is simply to offer aid?

We
put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen, may Allaah preserve
him, who answered as follows:
One
should find out to whom the aid is being given. If the majority of people
being helped are Muslims, then it is permissible to give money so as to
lessen the crisis. But if the majority are idol-worshippers or communists,
then one should not give money. And Allaah knows best.
